Common problems and how to fix them

The transparent background turned white or black

WebP supports transparency and JPG does not. Convert to PNG instead if you need to keep it.

The image looks slightly worse

Two lossy compressions have been applied. Raise the quality setting to 90 percent or above to minimise this.

The file got larger

JPG is less efficient than WebP, so a larger file at the same visual quality is expected. Use the image compressor if size matters.

My file will not load

Confirm it is genuinely WebP. Files sometimes carry a misleading extension after being downloaded.

A form still rejects the file

Check its size and dimension requirements as well as the format.

I need PNG rather than JPG
