We export real text paragraphs with page breaks; complex layouts can be adjusted after download.

Get editable text out of a PDF, even a scanned one

PDFs are built to be read, not edited. When you need to actually change the words — update a resume, quote a paragraph, correct a name on a certificate template — you need the text back in an editable form.

There are two very different situations here. A PDF created from Word or Google Docs already contains real text, and extracting it is quick and accurate. A scanned PDF contains only photographs of paper, with no text at all, so the characters have to be recognised visually using OCR. This tool handles both, with OCR support for English and Hindi.

Hindi recognition is the part most international converters do badly, which matters for Indian government forms, Hindi-language certificates and mixed-script documents.

Who uses this most

  • Students — Turning scanned notes and question papers into text you can search and edit.
  • Office work — Reusing content from a report that only exists as a PDF.
  • Job seekers — Editing a resume when the original document has been lost.
  • Records and admin — Making old scanned files searchable instead of flipping through them page by page.
  • Translation and research — Extracting Hindi or English text for quoting, translating or analysing.

How to use the pdf to word converter

  1. Upload your PDFAdd the file. Text-based and scanned PDFs are both accepted.
  2. Choose the languageSelect English or Hindi to match the document. Choosing the wrong language is the single biggest cause of poor OCR results.
  3. Start the conversionOCR is computationally heavy and runs on your device, so a long scanned document takes noticeably longer than a short text PDF.
  4. Review the extracted textCheck the output against the original, particularly names, numbers and anything handwritten.
  5. DownloadSave as DOCX to keep editing in Word, or TXT for plain text.

OCR is recognition, not magic. Even good software misreads characters on a blurry or skewed scan, so always proofread the output before relying on it — especially for names, amounts and dates.

What accuracy can you realistically expect?

OCR quality depends far more on the source scan than on the software. This is roughly what different inputs produce.

Source document Typical accuracy Notes
PDF exported from Word or DocsEffectively perfectReal text already exists, so no recognition is needed
Clean 300 DPI printed scanVery highOccasional confusion between similar characters
Phone photo of a printed pageGoodDepends heavily on lighting, focus and angle
Low-resolution or skewed scanModerateExpect to correct a noticeable number of errors
HandwritingPoorOCR is designed for printed type, not handwriting

Common problems and how to fix them

The output is full of nonsense characters

The wrong language was selected, or the scan quality is too low. Set the correct language and try a sharper source.

Formatting and layout were lost

OCR recovers text, not page design. Tables, columns and styling generally do not survive. For tabular data use the PDF to Excel converter instead.

Hindi text came out as boxes or garbage

Confirm Hindi is selected. Devanagari also needs a reasonably high-resolution scan — conjunct characters blur together at low DPI.

Nothing was extracted at all

The PDF may be password-protected or an image with extremely low contrast. Unlock it first, and try the image enhancer on faint scans.

It is taking a very long time

OCR is heavy work and runs on your own device. Convert in smaller sections, or switch to a desktop browser.

Numbers were misread

Digits are commonly confused — 0 with O, 1 with l, 5 with S. Always verify amounts, dates and ID numbers by hand.

Getting the best OCR results

  • Scan at 300 DPI. Below 200 DPI accuracy drops sharply; above 400 DPI you gain little but wait much longer.
  • Make sure the page is straight. Even a few degrees of skew measurably hurts recognition.
  • Use high contrast — black text on white paper. Coloured or patterned backgrounds confuse recognition.
  • Select the correct language before converting, not after.
  • Convert a few pages first to check quality before committing to a long document.
  • Always proofread names, dates and numbers, which are the fields where an error causes real problems.

Your file never leaves your device

OCR runs inside your browser using local processing, so a scanned bank statement, contract or ID document is never uploaded anywhere. This matters most when the document is personal — an Aadhaar or PAN scan, a bank statement, a salary slip, a medical report or a signed contract. With a server-based converter you are trusting an unknown company with that file. Here there is nothing to trust, because the file is never transmitted anywhere.

PDF to Word Converter — more questions

Can I convert a scanned PDF to editable Word text?

Yes. Scanned pages contain no real text, so OCR reads the characters visually. Accuracy depends on how clean and sharp the scan is.

Does it support Hindi?

Yes, both Hindi and English. Select the correct language before converting, and use a reasonably high-resolution scan since Devanagari needs more detail than Latin script.

Will the formatting be preserved?

Mostly not. OCR recovers text rather than page layout, so tables, columns and styling usually need to be rebuilt.

Is the converted file a real Word document?

Yes, DOCX opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and WPS. You can also export plain TXT.

Why is it slower than other converters?

Because the work happens on your device instead of a server. That is the trade-off for your file never being uploaded.

Can it read handwriting?

Not reliably. OCR is built for printed type; handwriting recognition is a different technology and results will be poor.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit, but long documents take time. Converting in sections is more comfortable.

Are my documents stored anywhere?

No. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to store.
